To SFM Porters, what are some troubles that you face while porting models?

I said on twitter that the tutorial is far from done so there's bound to be many empty spaces.

I sometimes have a problem that after porting and placing files in sfm folders, turns out that the armature is out of place and I need to port again.
Maybe it is simple to fix, but takes some time.

When you finally export the model with HQ mesh and youre checking the flexes and see that the skin splits apart in triangles

I can't port it I don't know how to get all the textures into the sfm model file and get it to work and I can't port the model its self because when I press the source tool thing in blender it doesn't convert it to sfm model and all the steps to port the model like using additional software to compile the textures and models are all too complex and complicated for my small brain to handle and when I try my own version of the steps and go on to the model in sfm the file shows up but there's no model there its all too much 4 M3

sometimes high poly models would have rigging issues even with using LocRotScale applied and everything.

usually lowering it or having a low poly one works.

Example: My Springtrap v12 with it still downgraded still had the rig rotated wrong.

or the leg rig would be facing a different direction or some sort.


Maybe some insight on that might help.

You seem to be pretty good at it so can i ask you something?^ Alright so, if i wanna deatch a model's part from the rest of the body but without messing up the whole armature, how should i do, and also is it necessasry to remove doubles before starting to work on the model.
Y'know i follow some tutorial of how to port models from SFM and i know how to join bodyparts and stuff, but i don't know how to separate something without messing up everything. Can you please tell me?

i wouldnt know tbh.

just having the rig not center at 0 or make it think its a 0 makes a big difference.

I would just wait for a proper response, cause im just a low level porter.

Can i say mine. alright. Altough i never posted a ported model, because i don't know how to do that, i am actually trying to port one of them to SFM all by myself but i am running into several diffculties while compliling them. I tried both Crowbar and GUIStudioMDL but both of them didn't seem to be working with my QC file.
I checked my QC file to verify whether there was actually something wrong, but no. everything is right. I made some flexses to the model i am trying to port on SFM to make facila expressions easier, and of course,i had to edit the whole Qc file,but every path is right and i even renamed the model's bones like a TF2 character. I'll tell you that i saved the model i wanna port as a DMX file with an idle sequence,of course.
Maybe i should rebuilt the Qc or maybe something went wrong while it was being exported from blender. As for textures and stuff. i am fine with those.

Crowbar can't optimize and decimate bu itself, which causes to decimate in Blender and fucks up models (idk if it's a problem but eh, still saying it)

(Specifically with crowbar) some objects freeze during compilation, and being unable to cancel compile, forcing me to restart crowbar
